Grossenbacher Vary Harness

The Grossenbacher Vary Harness is one of the most adaptable, ergonomic, and secure dog harnesses available — ideal for both growing puppies and adult dogs alike. Designed to accommodate changing shapes, coat lengths, or breed-specific body types, the Vary harness offers extensive adjustability at the neck, girth, and sternum (length from prosternum to girth), making it a standout option for long-term fit and functionality.

Exclusive to Harbour City Dog Gear, our version of the Vary harness includes a front D-ring in addition to the standard rear and nape of neck connection points, making this a triple-connection training and walking harness. The front ring is appropriate for use during leash training — always best paired with a double-ended lead for balanced contact and optimal guidance. Please only use the front ring as part of a training plan under an experienced and qualified force-free trainer.

This harness features a slip on over-the-head design with a fully adjustable neck, girth and chest (plastic sliders on smaller sizes, lightweight metal sliders on larger ones). This additional split adjustability on the bottom strap helps keep the harness centered, even on deep-chested dogs, helping to prevent the middle strap from flipping to one side.

Sized by breed and weight, not girth — due to its generous adjustability, each Vary size covers a three-size range when compared to the Grossenbacher Fun Run harness. 

We recommend visiting our fitting studio for best sizing. If ordering online, please refer to the size chart in the gallery or size tab below and please factor in an exchange just in case the initial size is not quite right. Don't simply get a size small because that's what size usually fits your dog in other gear.

BACKORDERS

Backorders are available in our standard colour range as per the dropdown menu above. When you select size and colour, if backorders are available the button will change to read “Backorder”. Payment is taken at time of order. Backorders cannot be cancelled after they are placed.

NB. Limited Edition colours are not available for backorder.

Some photos in the gallery are of colours that may not be available. Some photos show Vary with no front d-ring – all our Vary harnesses have a front d-ring as per the bright green and Bordeaux photos in the gallery.

Backorders for Grossenbacher products usually ship to you in 7-8 weeks. All items are hand-made to order so there may be a longer wait on some products depending on where we are in the order cycle and the workload/holiday season in Switzerland.

SPECIAL/CUSTOM ORDERS

Grossenbacher products come in a large range of custom colour combinations. The Vary harness does have other colour options available – we are happy to do special orders for colours we don’t stock, however special orders are not returnable or exchangeable (except under Australian Consumer Law).

Please ensure you know what size will fit by coming into the fitting studio and trying them on your dog if possible, so you are not disappointed when a custom order doesn't fit and can't be exchanged.

All Vary harnesses from Harbour City Dog Gear come with a front d-ring.

Special/custom orders are paid for in advance and are not refundable or cancellable. Once we have advised the price of each item and you confirm what you would like to order, you will receive a payment link that send you straight to the checkout screen where you can check over your order and make payment. Only then will a special/custom order be processed and ordered in for you.

Custom orders can take 8-10 weeks to deliver to you depending on where we are in the order cycle and the workload/holiday season in Switzerland.

NB. We emphasise: special/custom orders cannot be exchanged or returned. When you place an order for a custom colour item you are agreeing that the item cannot be changed/returned/exchanged.
